Terms of Service

Last updated: 14 June 2026

These terms explain the rules for using Notesier and what you can expect from us. We’ve aimed to keep them clear — please read them carefully.

Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of Notesier, including our website, web application, desktop app, and all related writing, study, research, citation, and AI-assisted features (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Notesier.

These Terms work alongside our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, which are incorporated by reference.

Who we are

Notesier (“Notesier”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is an AI-assisted academic writing and study platform built to help students plan, research, write, cite, and refine their coursework. Notesier is a writing and productivity aid — it does not provide legal, financial, medical, or professional academic advice.

Eligibility & your account

You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) to use Notesier. If you are under the age required to form a binding contract where you live, you may only use the Service with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

You can create an account with an email and password or by signing in with Google. For your security, we may verify your email with a one-time code and may ask you to verify new or untrusted devices. You are responsible for:

  • providing accurate account information and keeping it current;
  • keeping your credentials and one-time codes confidential and secure;
  • all activity that occurs under your account.

Notify us promptly if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account.

Plans, billing & renewals

Notesier offers a free plan and paid plans (currently Plus and Pro, billed monthly or yearly) as well as a limited one-time “Founders 100” offer that provides three years of access for a single payment. Current features and prices are shown on our pricing page and at checkout.

  • Payments. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store your full card details.
  • Auto-renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; your plan then remains active until the end of the current paid period.
  • Taxes. Prices may exclude applicable taxes, which will be added where required.
  • Price changes. We may change prices or plan features going forward; changes will not affect the period you have already paid for.
  • Usage limits. Plans include monthly limits on certain AI and tool features. We may meter, adjust, or fair-use these limits to keep the Service reliable for everyone.

Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.

The Service & AI-generated output

Notesier uses artificial intelligence and third-party AI providers to generate suggestions, rewrites, outlines, summaries, citations, grammar feedback, transcriptions, and other output. AI output is probabilistic and may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or out of date.

You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, fact-checking, and verifying all output before you rely on, submit, or publish it. Notesier is a tool to assist your own work, not a replacement for your judgment, and does not guarantee any particular grade, outcome, or result.

Academic integrity

Notesier is designed to support learning and help you produce your own, original work. You are responsible for using the Service in line with your school, college, or university’s academic integrity and AI-use policies, which vary by institution and assignment.

Our plagiarism and originality features perform an in-product heuristic self-check to help you spot repeated or unoriginal phrasing in your own draft. They do not compare your work against the internet, published works, or any third-party database, and they do not certify a document as original or free of plagiarism. You remain responsible for the integrity of any work you submit.

Your content & licence to us

You retain ownership of the documents, uploaded files, research materials, citations, and other content you create or upload (“Your Content”). You grant Notesier a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, store, copy, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely to operate, secure, and improve the Service and to provide the features you use — including sending relevant content to our sub-processors (for example, AI and grammar providers) so they can generate output for you.

You represent and warrant that:

  • you have the rights necessary to upload and use Your Content with the Service; and
  • Your Content does not infringe the rights of others or include confidential information you are not permitted to share.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purpose;
  • upload content you do not have the right to use, or that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems, or disrupt or overload our infrastructure;
  • reverse engineer, scrape, resell, or commercially exploit the Service except as expressly permitted;
  • circumvent usage limits, security controls, or access restrictions; or
  • use the Service to generate content that is illegal, harassing, or harmful, or to misrepresent AI output as wholly your own where your institution prohibits it.

Our intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, and content (other than Your Content), is owned by Notesier or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

Third-party services

We rely on trusted third parties to provide the Service, including AI and language processing (such as OpenAI and LanguageTool), citation and research data sources (such as CrossRef and OpenAlex), payments (Stripe), sign-in (Google), email (Resend), and cloud storage (Cloudflare). Your use of features powered by these providers may also be subject to their terms. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

Availability, beta features & changes

We work hard to keep Notesier available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time, and some features may be offered as beta or experimental and provided “as is.” We may also perform maintenance that temporarily limits access.

Suspension & termination

You may stop using Notesier and delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, use the Service in a way that risks harm to us or others, or where required by law.

When your account is deleted, associated content is removed from our active systems in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (such as IP, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of AI output, or non-infringement. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of these may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Notesier and its suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, grades, profits, or opportunities, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your statutory consumer rights.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Notesier harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Notesier is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve any dispute informally.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service. Your continued use of Notesier after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
